What to See This Weekend? (08/08)
Pineapple Express
The new comedy from young visionary David Gordon Green. A film which is way outside of his normal realm of cinematic expression (George Washington, All the Real Girls). The early reviews have been inviting and I think the film shows a lot of potential. And when James Franco is on, he’s fantastic.
Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2
Please.
Hell Ride
This looks like it could be alright, but it also looks like the kind of film hoards of people could stop out of cursing Tarantino’s influence in America. And dear lord haven’t we seen enough mediocre action films staring Jason Statham in the last two years.
Bottle Shock (limited)
Meh. Looks like a great cast. Maybe this is the pick of the week. I’ve got the end of the summer mehs, and nothing has looked phenomenally interesting since…I’m not sure…early July. Though this and Pineapple Express do look interesting.
Elegy (limited)
meh.
