They take it very seriously, but the filmmakers give no hint to whether or not they have researched time periods and understand the ramifications of battle in that time. The role playing in itself is no different than actors getting together to put on a play (no offense to either party) but the theme being war....war, war, war.....in real life it's bad enough...they have to get together to playact more war?
